This has nothing to do with altcoins. Rather than saying that BTC and ETH theoretically exist, don't hold any illusions about altcoins. Occasionally, there will be projects that reflect future trends, such as decentralized exchanges like HYPE and ASTER. Of course, the platform tokens of centralized exchanges also have a higher degree of certainty; holding them will at least ensure you don't miss out on a bull market. Even in a bear market, they won't drop to zero like altcoins. When the next cycle comes, you can at least break even. Finally, when the trend is unclear, manage your position size carefully.
