How to make sense of the Maxi World? I’ve been involved in Crypto since 2013. I was the one to point out that ZK solves both the scalability and privacy aspects of Bitcoin. I went on to convince the world of this by co-founding first @Zcash (privacy of ZK), and then @StarkWareLtd (scalability of ZK). I know many of the previous and existing OGs of crypto from way before they were OGs. I explained ZK to Bitcoin OGs and to Vitalik (back when he was a reporter of Bitcoin Magazine). This is all to say -- I've been observing the crypto ecosystem for many years now. So I want to talk about: Maxis. You see the scuffles of various maxis in crypto: Bitcoin maxis hate Ethereum. Ethereal maxis hate Solana. Solana maxis don’t seem to hate much, but common to all of them is this belief: There can be Only One, and that One is X (fill in for X; pls, don’t put Cardano or Ripple there :-) ). As with all cases of Hate, it’s best explained by Weakness and Fear. What I mean is that you don’t see many Dollar maxis. Or Euro maxis. Or Apple-Stock maxis. They coexist. Once there’s true product market fit for crypto, you’ll see magnanimity and love. Sure, there’ll be competition, and markets will constantly reprice various crypto technologies based on their merit. But you won’t need this Maxiness. The Maxi is worried that there can only be One, and moreover, that One must be the one that he holds bags of. Because if that’s not true, then maybe the bags will be worth much less one day. But that’s wrong (and dumb?). Crypto is going to thrive. There’s going to be a lot of experimentation, and a lot of different flavors of crypto, and that’s actually great. A good way to think of it is like Companies. It took quite some time for the world to come to grasp with Companies but looking back, they are an amazing invention. And we have many many of them, of many shapes and sizes, and that’s great. Same will happen with crypto. Strike that. Same has already started to happen with crypto. Me? I’m a maxi too. A ZK STARK maxi. Have a nice day!
